In our many years of operating as a commercial builder business, we have had countless number of projects in the historical part of Georgetown Texas, better known as “Old Town”.  “Old Town” presents a unique set of challenges to any building designer and remodelers as well. This is because many of the properties located in this area of Georgetown were constructed in the early part of the 20th Century and truly are “old”. The good news is that this gives us plenty to work with, and lots of options for improvement open up. As long as we work with civil engineering services we’re able to work with confidence knowing we’re not working outside of our space and rules, as well as keeping the old neighboring buildings in the same state they were in before we got there.

Most remodels can turn into pretty big overhauls, but it’s nothing we can’t handle. As long as we’re careful about hiring the right dump trailers to move all the extra dirt, we’re able to maneuver quickly enough and as much as we need in order to get the job done.

Online, we have seen recent content speaking to the benefits of installing solar panels for individual homes. These things have reached a point of efficiency and cost-effectiveness that has allowed them to break through and become a bit more widely employed. In fact if you’ve been looking for new homes for sale lately, you might have been surprised to find a few houses came with those included and installed already. In sunny locations like Texas, you can take even more advantage of them and further push their output.

“Old Town” is situated within a City of Georgetown “overlay district” with its own particular requirements as to design compliance and regulatory oversight. Then you can also save a lot of the hassle of starting a new business by using a service which does a lot of the set-up for you as that saves a great deal of time and stress and is really cheap too.

Any modifications to the exterior of an existing structure within the overlay district must be vetted and approved by the Historical and Architectural Review Committee (HARC).

Getting the necessary approvals from HARC and the City of Georgetown development office can take up to 6 months or longer so the pre-construction process can be lengthy.

Many of the old properties in “Old Town” have already been modified several times, which also adds to the challenges for remodeling in this part of town.
